The mission of Bayou Oaks is to treat every animal with the highest quality veterinary care to enrich and better their lives. Alongside our care for animals, we hope to treat every pet owner with the utmost respect and to help further strengthen the human-animal bond.

Meet the Team

Mark Laird, DVM

Mark grew up right here in Monroe, LA. He has always wanted to work with animals and his first jobs were helping train dogs and as a veterinary assistant. He went to undergrad at Louisiana State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in animal sciences and a minor in general business. He was also a part of the LSU baseball team where he played from 2013-2015 before getting drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies. He played three years professionally before going back to school and finishing his degree. He graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2023 and moved back home to open Bayou Oaks Veterinary Clinic. When not helping your pets, Mark enjoys hunting, golf, watching LSU sports, and spending time with his family. He has two dogs, Allie and Abel, and a baby girl named Lou. His wife, Cammie Laird, is an orthodontist at Caples and Robinson.

Brent White, DVM

Dr. White began his veterinary career in 1997 upon graduating from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, he returned to Monroe and spent time under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Mike Cummings. With over twenty-five years of practice, Dr. White has developed a strong interest in orthopedic surgery, dental surgery, and difficult to solve veterinary cases. He is excited to work alongside Dr. Laird here at Bayou Oaks Vet. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and watching his boys play baseball. He and his wife Cheryl have four children - Ashley, an architect who will soon be married, Barham, a ULM baseball player, Zach, a senior at OCS and future ULM baseball player, and Eli, who enjoys football and baseball.

  • Chelsea is our office manager here at Bayou Oaks Vet, but you may see her working in all areas of the clinic. She grew up training dogs in various sports including agility and herding, and she has a particular interest in canine behavior.

  • Landrie joined our reception team in June of 2024. After studying at Louisiana Tech University, she decided to pursue a career in the veterinary field. She is excited for the opportunity to follow her passion and care for all of your pets.

  • Riley joined our team in February of 2024. She has wanted to work with animals from a young age and is excited to pursue a career in veterinary medicine!

  • Laiken joined our team in June of 2024. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience gained through years of working in the veterinary field and as a first responder, and she is excited to join the team at Bayou Oaks.

  • Taylor recently graduated from Louisiana Tech with a Bachelor of Science with pre-vet concentration. She especially has a passion for large animals and plans to continue her education by specializing in equine sports medicine in veterinary school.
